Ann Marie Sunderhaus

“Put your name on it” is a common phrase that you will hear from Ann Marie. She says it with pride because that is what she has done for years and continues to do as she works to improve and grow the Hubbard Family Swim School and Hubbard Summer Sports Camps. She has put her heart and soul into a business that her parents, Bob and Kathy Hubbard, began years ago. She believes that the companies provide a tremendous opportunity for young adults and adults to impact the families of our community and for kids to learn healthy life skills in a fun, loving environment. Ann Marie understands the importance of a strong business while truly believing in the reason she is in business, to better the lives of children. She has impacted many children over the years in both camp and swim lessons. Ann Marie has been a part of the Sports Camps since 1996 and helped her parents start up the Hubbard Family Swim School in 1999. She joined the Hubbard Family Swim School full time with her husband, Pat Sunderhaus, in 2004. Ann Marie currently spends her summer working the camps and the off season at the swim school helping with hiring, system development and guiding Bob, her dad. Ann Marie attended Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio where she earned her undergraduate degree in business. While at Xavier University, she excelled as the goalkeeper on the women’s soccer team, who were the Atlantic 10 Champions her senior year. She continued her soccer career playing professionally with the Arizona Heatwave and the Cincinnati Ladyhawks. During that time she entered the coaching world, training youth teams and eventually finding her way back to Xavier University as the assistant coach for the women’s soccer team for four years. While coaching, she earned her Master’s Degree in Sports Administration. Ann Marie was born in Cincinnati but grew up in Phoenix. She is a graduate of St. Thomas the Apostle and Xavier College Prep. Ann Marie is married to Pat Sunderhaus, the General Manager at 32nd Street location of the Hubbard Family Swim School. They are proud parents of Frank, Kevin, Molly and a baby due in 2013. They love their family time and staying active. You will see all three of them swimming and playing at the swim school throughout the week.

 

Katie Reeve

Katie Reeve will be spending her 13th summer with the Hubbard Summer Sports Camps! Throughout that time she has been an integral part of the foundation and the development of the program. Katie brings positive energy and spirit to the staff and to the kids. She shows tremendous responsibility and pride in what our camps offer kids and families. Katie has been a director at almost every camp location! She is now the key part of Hubbard Sports Camp Management. Ann Marie and Katie work side by side on everything. Katie attended Xavier College Prep and graduated from the University of Arizona in 2002 with a business degree. After realizing that her heart was with children, she continued her education at ASU West and received her teaching certificate in 2004. She taught Kindergarten in the Washington School District for three years. She and her husband, Tommy, have two adorable boys, “lil” Tommy and Ryan. After having children, Katie decided to return to the Hubbard Family Swim School to work full time. She is a site manager and teacher at our location on 32nd Street and Thunderbird while remaining an integral part of the Hubbard Sports Camp.

 

Bill Van Liew - Rancho Solano Ventura

Bill was born in Edison, NJ and grew up in Phoenix, AZ. He went to Saint Mary’s High school and received a bachelor’s degree in communications from Grand Canyon University. He also received a master of Elementary education from Grand Canyon University. Bill is a third grade teacher at Rancho Solano Preparatory School- Hillcrest Campus. He is the oldest of six kids. Bill is interested in outdoor sports, and some indoor. He is currently the head wrestling coach at Madison Meadows Middle School. He was the assistant wrestling coach at Brophy College Prep from 1999-2002. His family and classroom are the most important things in his life. Bill joined Hubbard in the summer of 2012. He loves Hubbard because he loves kids and appreciates the friendly environment.

 

Erika Resch - Rancho Solano Greenway

Erika was born in Richland, WA and raised in Seattle. She has lived in Washington, Colorado, Tennessee and Arizona. She graduated from the University of Tennessee/Chattanooga with a BS in Exercise Science with a K-12 certification. She played softball at University and coached. At the University of Phoenix she received a masters in Administration. Erika loves all sports, she plays in a softball league with her husband Michael as well as golf and tennis. She loves to travel. She has been a PE teacher for 12 years. She currently works at Carl Hayden. Erika was awarded the 2012 PE Teacher of the Year for Arizona and was inducted into Pacific Lutheran University’s Softball Hall of Fame in Washington State, where she attended school for two years, winning the NAIA National Championship her freshman year.  She loves working at Hubbard because it is a great opportunity to work with kids in the summer while she is on vacation from teaching high school.

 

Jack Anger - Rancho Solano Gilbert

Jack is from Phoenix, AZ. He is a Senior at ASU and will be graduating in May with a degree in Early Childhood Education. He is looking forward to hopefully having his own classroom this fall! Jack believes that the best way for a child to learn is for them to have fun. If a child leaves camp with a smile, I know I have done my job. Jack has an older sister and brother and a younger brother. He likes to play music in his free time – piano, guitar and the ukulele. Jack volunteers with Big Brother Big Sisters of Central AZ. Jack has been a counselor, coach and director at the Hubbard Sports Camp. He does an excellent job of working with the campers, mentoring staff and giving every family the true Hubbard experience. Jack has been a part of Hubbard Sports Camp since 2008. He works for the Hubbard Family Swim School on the weekends during the school year teaching lessons and mentoring staff.

 

Jen Smith "Murphy" - Office Manager

Jen, known as “Murphy” at the Hubbard Family Swim School,  is a 3rd generation Arizona native. She graduated from NAU in 2000. She played 2 years of soccer at the University of Missouri and spent a semester abroad in Limerick, Ireland. She and her husband, Steve, have two precious children Drew and Abbey. She enjoys wakeboarding, traveling, hiking and soccer. Her family & friends are important to her! “Murphy” has been a part of Hubbard on and off since 1994! Hubbard has been part of her life forever! She started as a camp counselor and became a camp director. After graduating and having her first child, she chose Hubbard as her sole place of work. She has been here since 2006 teaching lessons and now working on the phones, front desk and customer relations. She works with Katie and Ann Marie in the summer helping manage Hubbard Sports Camp. She enjoys helping people and making sure their children are enjoying the camp experience, like her own son, Drew!

 

Stefanie Salazar - Rancho Solano Hillcrest

Stefanie graduated from Deer Valley HS and earned a BA in Secondary Education at ASU. She values each child as an individual with their own unique learning style. She believes all students can be successful with the right tools and confidence and will continually celebrate success. Stefanie has 2 older brothers. Her hobbies include singing, hiking, art and drawing, cooking, spending time with family and friends. Education is her passion in life. She has been teaching English at Cactus HS for 4 years. She loves working with kids of all ages.

 

 

 

Tim McHale - Tesseract

Since 1994, Tim has played a significant role in the establishment and development of the Hubbard Summer Sports Camps. He has provided excellent leadership for his staff with a joy for community. He is a people person with a kind heart, always wanting the best for others. Tim has held leadership positions at each camp location. He represents Hubbard to the core. His love for sports, children and mentoring staff is a perfect fit for Tim and the Hubbard program. Tim retired in the fall of 2012 from 23, years of coaching volleyball at Xavier College Preparatory. In his tenure as Head Coach, the Gators have played in five of the last seven state championship games, garnering championships in 2002, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2010, and 2011. As an assistant coach with the varsity team, Tim helped coach the Gator’s to state titles in 1996, 1997, 1998 & 2000. In his years of service at Xavier, he has also served as the JV Volleyball head coach as well as an assistant coach for the basketball and softball programs. Tim is also currently serving as the Boy’s Softball head coach at Sky View Elementary, where he teaches Jr. High Language Arts and History. Tim is married to Sara McHale, who is also a teacher. They have four wonderful children, Annika, Kellen, Delaney, and Keegan.

Will Hubbard - Phoenix Swim Club

Will was born in Phoenix, AZ and has lived here all his life except for one year he lived in Denver, CO. He graduated from Brophy College Prep in 2008 and has a really big ring for being on the championship football team. He attended PVCC in 2011 and received an EMT basic certification. He  graduated from ASU in May 2012, majoring in Political Science. Will has a little brother and a very big extended family (that are a lot of fun)! Will has worked for Hubbard’s since 2007 as a swim instructor, counselor, coach, deck supervisor both at camp and the indoor pool and director of Hubbard Sports Camp. Will spent this past year in Cincinnati, helping open up the new Hubbard Family Swim School in Cincinnati, Ohio. He trained the new instructors and helped transfer the Hubbard systems all the way to Ohio! Will loves working out and enjoys hiking. He likes listening to country music and hanging with good friends. He wants to join a fire department in AZ. It is important to Will to be happy and make everyone happy. It’s fun at the Hubbard’s. My goal is to make sure they campers are happy and having a great time!

Zach Lambros - Sunnyslope High School

Zach was born and raised in Phoenix. Currently, he is a junior at Arizona State University studying Civil Engineering. Zach comes from a big family (four siblings), so he understands the importance of getting along and having fun, which he promotes in his leadership and work with the campers. In addition to sports, he loves playing and writing his own music. He loves jokes! His family, friends and faith are most important to him! Zach has worked for the Hubbard Swim School and Sports Camps since 2007. He teaches swim lessons during the year as well as being a Deck Supervisor. In the summers he has been a counselor, coach and a director. His energy and love for Hubbard Sports Camp is contagious. He loves Phoenix summers!
